Kiwanis Disaster Relief Funds Help Devastation in Philippines - 11/12/2013

Statesville, NC (November 13, 2013) — Over the past few days, we’ve all seen the catastrophic damage from Super Typhoon Haiyan. This area is home to more than 200 Kiwanis clubs in the Philippine Luzon and Philippine South districts. The death toll is horrific. The impact is grave. The relief effort will be massive.


The Kiwanis International Foundation quickly approved two disaster relief grants for the Philippines for US$5,000 each. These grants will provide much needed essential items such as food, water and medicine to those affected by the super typhoon. The Kiwanis Club of Statesville is requesting donations to further assist in the Philippines relief efforts.

Statesville, NC (November 5, 2013) — The Kiwanis Club of Statesville has joined forces with Kiwanis members across the globe in an effort to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT), a painful disease that kills one baby every nine minutes, or about 160 newborns each day.


The Kiwanis Club of Statesville has secured $1,800 toward its goal of raising $3,600 by 2015.

Statesville Resident Wins Kiwanis Walter Zeller Award! - 11/04/2013

Statesville, NC (November 5, 2013) — 25 Silver dollars, a mother of four, employee of local manufacturer Alpha Machining and Grinding, Inc. and a philanthropic heart are essential ingredients for Walter Zeller Award awardee, Debra Connolly. Kiwanis Club of Statesville on behalf of Kiwanis International and the Kiwanis Foundation are happy to recognize Debra Connolly, as this year’s recipient of the Walter Zeller award for her exceptional commitment to the Philanthropic work of Kiwanis Club and her support of The Eliminate Project.

Kiwanis Club of Statesville Awards almost $8,000 in Scholarships - 07/21/2010

The Kiwanis Club of Statesville presented its scholarships to 17 recipients from Iredell County at the two July meetings, on July 6 and July 20.   Joe Stephens, chairman of the scholarship committee, presented the awards. Scholarship recipients were chosen based upon their demonstrated leadership qualities, community involvement, academic achievement and financial need. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the recipients' college or school.
